Dansmaraþon 2024
The second dance marathon in Iceland took place on the 25th of May, 2024 at the National Gallery of Iceland by Fríkirkjuvegur 7.
Dance Marathon is a charity event where people with different physical abilities and experiences meet on the dance floor to dance together for equal opportunities. The marathon celebrates the culture of dance and movement. We believe that dance should be for everybody regardless of their physical capabilities. Therefore we invite everyone to join us on the dance floor.
The event raises money through ticket sales and donations in support of charities that work in favour of people with physical limitations. This year the money was raised for The Benefit Society for Children with Disabilities – SLF. In total 51 participants were registered and raised 130 000 isk for SFL.
The duration of the dance marathon is 6 hours, from 11-17. The goal for the participants is to keep dancing throughout the marathon or as long as they possibly can. Dance Marathon will take place in the National Gallery of Iceland, Fríkirkjuvegur 7, Saturday, May 25th from 11-17.
Dance Marathon is held in collaboration with Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava (STL), List án landamæra, Styrktarfélag lamaðra og fatlaðra, Listasafn Íslands, and Dansverkstæðið.
