What does freedom mean when all is linked?
When the space is saturated by stories
asking me to follow
or to be enchanted.
Entering into the vortex of the self,
not knowing who or what will remain.

The solo performance “Singularity” is an invitation to meet the unknown in ourselves; to let images, thoughts and states arise, transform and dissolve — not knowing what will remain when we offer ourselves to ourselves.

The imagination space is entangled with the physical space. Contradicting states and statements are allowed to resonate without a need for resolution.

The performance is an opportunity to witness a dancer, an experiencer, a cyber-shaman, an interactive technology researcher, a storyteller, or an old friend — creating a space for making your own sense of what is happening within and around you.

Roosna & Flak deal with questions around the meaning of freedom and interconnectedness; how our perception of reality determines our sense-making and what we consider meaningful.

“Singularity” is a part of Roosna & Flak’s ongoing research into interactive performance ecosystems, where the performer’s movements influence sound, light and video.

Internationally active choreographers and dancers Külli Roosna (Estonia) and Kenneth Flak (Norway) have been collaborating since 2008. Whether they are creating their own choreographies or collaborating with others, their work deals with the narratives and technologies of the body. Having explored a wide range of themes, including deep ecology, Viking mythology, totalitarianism and internet culture, the core of their work is human experience in interconnected realities. This is often explored through the dancing body’s possibilities and limitations, in a constant dialogue with the digital technologies and discourses that extend and counterpoint it.

Külli Roosna (born 1981) is an Estonian dancer, choreographer and teacher. She graduated Tallinn University in 2005 as a choreographer/dancer and continued her studies in Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands, obtaining her second bachelor degree in 2007.

Kenneth Flak (born 1975) is a Norwegian dancer, choreographer, composer and teacher. He has performed in the works of André Gingras, Dansdesign, Richard Siegal, Kari Hoaas, Preeti Vasudevan and many others.
