Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava (STL) is supplied with technical provisions having in mind the creative needs of dance artists (open space of 11*14 meters, wood flooring, clean and warm room, daylight conditions, nowadays sanitary conditions, enough technical things and small audience era). It's part of the new theatre center in Tallinn – Vaba Lava – a local performing arts center for the freelance artists. STL is a platform built for taking the responsibility for dance and choreographic activities. From our house we serve the residencies with administrational and technical support and professional feedback by local cultural authorities and other artists active around our house.

STL takes on the challenge to become an innovative melting pot and an open platform for the new generation of choreographers who believe that art can never be done with.

Triinu Aron

I have taken the role of a hang glider pilot, the hang glider called STL: I try to catch the moment of taking off, check the wind under wings and sometimes pull the hand brake while performing an aerobatic stunt.
On the ground it means repairing ventilation pipes when necessary; having expert opinions on the topic “dance art” in my pack pocket at all times; predicting the number of spectators or the numbers on a balance sheet for the next five years; and, in moments of weakness, finding myself sliding down the hill once again.
