Moving Identities
Moving Identities is a 3-year residency programme for performing artists funded by The Creative Europe Programme that creates a more sustainable, diverse and including platform for European Identities in the performing arts. Focusing on European identities today, the aim of the project is to create a network of residencies and experts, connecting artists, venues, and experts across borders in an eco-friendly way.
Targeting performing artists willing to explore the themes diversity and inclusion under the overall focus ‘European Identities today’, this open call and its 6 European residency institutions are looking for companies of established artists of 2-5 people based in Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Norway, and Spain. Moving Identities offers an opportunity for companies to develop a project idea and artistic vision through 3 paid residencies – 1 local and 2 international.
For artists residing in Estonia:
- 2-week residency 1.–14. of October 2023 in Narva
- 2-week residency 20th of October to 3rd of November 2023 in Hasselt, Belgium
- 2-week residency 15.–28. of April 2024 is Dresden, Germany
Selected artists residing in Estonia are the Artefactourist group with choreographers Valeria Januškevitš, Keity Pook, Sigrid Savi, Kadri Sirel and dramaturg Kerli Ever.
We are hosting the Belgian company Kaiho at STL from 30th of Oktoober to 12th of November. Read about the selected groups participating in the residency HERE. A meeting with the artists will take place at STL venue on 11. November at 4pm.
To increase representation in the performing arts, Moving Identities connects venues across Europe who support artist development and their development of international networks. The project enables the exchange of best practice, challenges, and solutions, amongst artists and organizations across Europe. The consortium is built by organizations who specialize in residencies, mentoring and artist support. Moving Identities aims to use the collective experience to find a more inclusive way of supporting artist development.
Participating venue partners are:
- Udviklingsplatformen for Scenekunst Denmark
- Davvi – Centre for Performing Arts Norway
- Vaba Lava, Estonia
- Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava – STL, Estonia
- HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts Germany
- Kunstenwerkplaats VONK Belgium
- Nau Ivanow Barcelona, Spain
In between and during residencies, Moving Identities offers mentorship from the project’s expert partners in topics of diversity, LGBTQIA+ representation, sustainability, and touring, and we will help the artists develop their careers internationally.
