In this year, six international and local up and coming dance artists are participating in the PREMIERE programme.
Nicole Michalla (ARG), born in Argentina, awarded a degree in Nutrition and studied Contemporary Dance at the Argentina National University of the Arts. In Berlin, she works as a freelancer collaborating with visual artists, musicians and choreographers.
Laura Witzleben (NE) studied contemporary dance in the Netherlands at the Academy of Arts (ArteZ) in Arnhem between 2004-2008. After studies she spent nine years working at contemporary dance ensembles and state theatre in several countries in Europe such as Ballet di Roma, Station Zuid, Danswerkplaats Amsterdam, Dansateliers Rotterdam, Staatstheater Darmstadt, National Company of Lithuania and the Panta Rei Dance Ensemble in Oslo, Norway. She is currently working for the theatre Würzburg as a guest dancer, for the choreographer Sara Angius in Braunschweig and for the compagnie Anne-Sophie Fenner in Zürich. Since 2018 she is based in Berlin.
Grėtė Šmitaitė (LT/DE) is a Berlin based performer and choreographer. 2017 she graduated from BA Dance. Context. Choreography in Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin and got danceWEB scholarship in ImpulsTanz Vienna. As a performer she has worked with Anna Aristarkhova (Obnimashki, 2016; Rinnzekete, 2016; Zweites Stück, 2016; and Lust, 2017) Min Tanaka (A Body, 2017) and Doris Uhlich (More than naked, Habitat, Seismic Session, 2017). Together with her colleagues from HZT Berlin Grėtė is part of Suddenly collective.
Anni Zupping (EST) is a dance artist. She graduated from TÜ Viljandi Culture Academy as a dance teacher and choreographer in 2017. She studied in Berlin Art University (UdK) performing arts department as an exchange student in 2015/2016. At the moment she works as a stage manager in Ugala theatre, Viljandi. Anni Zupping’s interest is finding connections between body and matter, how they interact with/against/towards one another.
Jana Jacuka (LV) is graduating Latvian Academy of Culture, Contemporary dance Art Bachelor degree. Jana is interested in working with multiple art forms: dance, theater, audiovisual arts or circus. She would like to create a piece, where the spectator cannot divide, where the contemporary dance or circus, or any other art starts. It would be a symbiosis between art forms, creating new platform for imagination.
Sanghoon Lee (KOR) holds a BA in Clothes and Textile from the Hanyang University of Seoul, Korea. Currently he is studying Performance Design and Practice at the Central Saint Martin’s, in London. His newest projects include art residency performance exhibition at Helicon art center,Turkey; a Dance-Lab experimental dance project in London; London Sinfonietta video performance piece screening; RAZZMATAZZ 3 live art event Movement performance at Museum of Future, London and Cyprus Marathon Workshop & live art exhibition at Point center art gallery, Nicosia. He is working with the language of body movement, language of visuality, language of composition and structure. He is interested in things that constantly move. For example human body, emotions, the way we looking at the world, the way of thinking or the life itself.
