Baltic Dance Platform is a new initiative started at the end of 2018 by three Baltic countries dance organisations: Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava/STL (Estonia), Lithuanian Dance Information Centre and Latvian Dance Information to promote Baltic contemporary dance internationally, create a stronger collective international presence of the Baltic contemporary dance scene.
The Platform carry out its aims through the different activities like everyday networking, biannual 3-days showcase festival, representation in international gatherings for professionals in the field of contemporary dance. The stronger collective international presences as Baltic Dance can happen while we have created the possibilites for Baltic dance artists and organisations for ease artistic and organisational collaboration, for dissemination of information, for stimulating new joint initiatives between Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian dance communities.
For that we have started already with Baltic Dance Platform (further BDP) happened first time in May 9-11th 2019 during an international contemporary dance festival New Baltic Dance in Vilnius (www.newbalticdance.lt. BDP presented independent Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian dance artists and dance theatres, which are exploring the boundaries of choreography, movement, artistic approaches, and sociocritical voices. Alongside the main performances, pitch sessions, audience engagement activities, and meetings with the artists will be held, international visitors, experts and managers will be invited.
BDP will stay as a regular event to represent Baltic dance for outside experts and will be organised biannually by a different partner country.
